God Answers Prayer and Heals an Aneurysm (Sermon Illustration)
The Bible tells us to pray for healing. We may not always experience a miraculous healing, but we never know when God will answer in a powerful way. There are countless stories of answered prayers that doctors cannot explain.
Here is one example:
Shortly after we started praying for people in public in our services, a lady in our church named Ruth Gay called me. She told me she had an aneurysm, and that on Wednesday she was going into the hospital for a second angiogram. (An aneurysm is a swelling in a blood vessel so that the walls of the blood vessel become stretched and thin. The danger is that the walls of the blood vessel may burst, resulting in the death of the person.) On Thursday they were going to operate in order to repair the aneurysm. She asked if we would come to her house on Monday night and pray for her. On Monday night, Leesa, Joyce Smeltzer (the wife of John Smeltzer, one of our pastors), and I went to Ruth Gay’s house to pray for her. Ruth was living by herself and had been estranged from the rest of her family. She was lonely, depressed, and frightened over her impending surgery.
When the three of us entered her house on Monday night, we could actually feel the gloom surrounding her. We talked with her for a little while, and then we laid our hands on her head and asked the Lord to take her aneurysm away. We prayed very calmly, specifically asking God to supernaturally heal her aneurysm. We didn’t rebuke any demons, or shout, or work up any religious excitement. We didn’t pray for the Lord to guide the doctor’s hands. We asked the Lord to use his own hands to touch this blood vessel and take away the aneurysm.
None of us heard the Lord speak directly that night, nor did we see any overt supernatural signs or manifestations. When we left the house, however, we all had a sense that the Lord had healed Ruth. We didn’t say this to her, but nevertheless we thought we sensed his presence there. On Wednesday morning I received a call from Ruth. She had just come out of her second angiogram. Her voice was so weak I could barely hear her. She said, “Jack, I have been healed!”
“What?”
“I have been healed!”
“You’re kidding!”
“No, it’s true. The aneurysm is gone.”
“What did your doctor say?”
“He said I have been healed. A nurse just came in this morning and told me it was a miracle.”
“Did you ask your doctor how he could explain this?”
“He can’t explain it. He told me that aneurysms never go away. They have to be corrected by surgery. I asked him if he had ever seen this before, and he said, ‘Never.’ He said, ‘I have no explanation for it, you have been healed.’”
This was the first medically documented healing that happened in our church.

I am 32 years and my abdominal aortic aneurysm now measures over 7cm. I am in Nigeria and no doctor here can operate it. At this point I am helpless. I only hope on God to perform a healing miracle. I have a 6.1 cm AAA that requires surgery and like the others, I am terrified. I have prayed for God to heal my aneurysm so I was surprised and saddend that it was so much larger. Please pray for God to heal me, I’m devoted to my Heavenly Father and pray everyday. May God put his healing hands on me and be in the hearts of all.

Please pray for my husband. He had a dissecting aneurysm in 2017. He goes every 6 months to check the size. God spared him. Most people just drop over from these. I’m asking that God will heal this and keep it stable. I believe if it His will, it will be done. God bless and thank you.

i’ve read all of the comments. i know god can heal all of our problems i am a 69 year old male and have a 5.7 aortic aneurism. i lost my wife last year to covid iam alone as well and spend the first hour of the day reading devotionals and the bible. my doctor tells me that i need to get it repaired now. im trusting our lord and savior. pray for me that our good lord uses his healing power to repair me. May I ask for your prayers for our Pastor friend, Ptr. BJ Villanueva. From the results of his CT scan, he have a suspicious sacular aneurysm on his right brain artery which seem to be the cause of his headaches. He will undergo further tests and consultation with a neuro surgeon. He’ll have an RTPCR test, then I will be confined at Chinese General Hospital tomorrow for tests and observation.

I googled praying for healing from aortic aneurysm and found this. I have also been recently diagnosed, and while I know medically it can’t go away on its own, I believe spiritually that I am going to be blessed with that gift of healing. I am a young female, 67 year who has an Aoreta Anureism . My ascending is 5.3. I worked out, ate healthy. My descending Aoreta is no concern right now. I also have a severe leaky heart in my Aoreta. Crystal my aneurysm was 4.5 when first found.I was told same thing about how it never goes away.My last scan was 3.4 to 3.8 with no evidence of aneurysm.I know how you feel and what you are going through.

I have just been diagnosed with leg aneurisms. I had a clot in my leg which the doctor was able to dissolve in the hospital last week. I pray that the Lord will put his hands on me as he did for Ruth to cure my aneurisms. Surgery for me is eminent without my Lords healing.

I have a ascending thoracic aorta aneurysm at 4.1 cm and I’m. I’m at the point where I just want them to get rid of this thing so I don’t have to worry about it anymore. I was diagnosed with aortic anurysm about 2 years ago .I Have been going for follow up scans to monitor size.I just had mri done this week and got results.There is no longer an anurysm there.I have been healed.Praise God.Thank you Jesus.
God is faithful! Please pray with me for the healing of my niece she also has an aneurysm along with other health issues. Daily I thank Him for Her healing.
